Hire a Driver on Rent from Lucknow to Delhi, Prayagraj and Varanasi

To hire a driver on rent from Lucknow to Delhi, Prayagraj or Varanasi, book an outstation driver for your own car in the DriverGill app. Enter your destination and dates, check the fare shown before you confirm, and a verified driver drives your car for the whole trip. Prayagraj and Varanasi are popular one- or two-day trips, while Delhi is a long drive best planned with an overnight halt.

What is a driver on rent?

A driver on rent, also called a driver on hire, is a professional driver you pay for their time to drive your own car. You do not rent a vehicle. For long highway trips from Lucknow, it means someone rested and experienced handles the road, while you relax, work or travel with your family.

Lucknow routes at a glance

Destination Distance (approx.) Drive time (approx.) Best planned as
Prayagraj Roughly 200 km About 4 to 5 hours A long day trip, or an overnight stay
Varanasi Roughly 300 km About 5 to 6 hours An overnight stay
Delhi Roughly 550 to 600 km About 8 to 10 hours A full day, or an overnight halt

Distances and times are approximate and change with traffic, roadworks, festivals and weather.

Lucknow to Prayagraj

The route. Most people take the national highway through Raebareli towards Prayagraj. It is a fairly direct drive and the shortest of the three trips.

Tips for the trip

  • Start early to leave time for Prayagraj's sights, such as the Triveni Sangam, Allahabad Fort and Anand Bhawan.
  • Prayagraj becomes very busy during the Magh Mela and Kumbh periods, with traffic diversions and restrictions. Check local advisories and book your stay early if you travel then.
  • A same-day return is possible, but it makes for a long day with about 8 to 10 hours on the road, so many people choose to stay overnight.

Lucknow to Varanasi

The route. The usual route runs through Sultanpur and Jaunpur on the national highway. Check your maps app on the day for the best option, as roadworks and expressway links can change the choice.

Tips for the trip

  • Plan an overnight stay so you can see the ghats, the Ganga aarti in the evening and the temples in the old city, plus Sarnath if you have time.
  • The lanes in the old city are narrow and vehicle access near the ghats and the main temple is restricted. Plan to park at your hotel or a parking area and walk or take a short local ride.
  • Book a hotel with parking in advance, especially at weekends and festivals.

Lucknow to Delhi

The route. Most drivers take the Agra–Lucknow Expressway to Agra and then the Yamuna Expressway towards Delhi NCR. It is mostly expressway driving, and a full day behind the wheel.

What it costs

When you hire a driver for your own car on DriverGill:

  • The trip fare is fixed and shown before you confirm, based on your route and the number of days.
  • On multi-day trips you also pay the driver's daily allowance for food and an overnight stay.
  • Fuel, tolls and parking are paid by you as the car owner. Keep a funded FASTag for tolls.
  • No advance payment is needed to book.

Enter your route and dates in the app to see the exact fare for your trip.

How to book

  1. Open the DriverGill app and choose an outstation booking.
  2. Enter your pickup in Lucknow, your destination and your dates.
  3. Check the fixed fare shown for your trip.
  4. Confirm. A verified driver is assigned and you can track their arrival live.
  5. Share the trip with family if you want someone to follow along.

For early-morning departures and festival or weekend travel, book ahead so a driver is lined up before you leave.

Planning checklist

  • Service your car before a long drive: tyres including the spare, brakes, fluids and lights.
  • Carry your documents: registration certificate, insurance, pollution certificate and your driving licence.
  • Top up your FASTag and keep fuel above a quarter tank on highway stretches.
  • Download offline maps, as signal can be patchy in some stretches.
  • Book your stay and check parking, particularly in Varanasi and Prayagraj.
  • Plan your timings so you avoid driving long highway stretches late at night.

Why a driver helps on these trips

  • You can rest or work on the way instead of concentrating on the road for hours.
  • The person at the wheel is rested and used to highway driving.
  • The same driver stays with your car for the whole trip, including any overnight stay.
  • Drivers are ID-verified and background-checked, and every trip has live tracking, share-trip with family and an in-app SOS.
